Williams World Tour – Destination Chile

Williams World Tour – Destination Chile

On a virtual tour around the world, we’re seeking to discover the most incredible places on Earth. But it wouldn’t be a Williams World Tour without a tender! That’s why we’re uncovering a selection of secret spots and hidden gems that are only accessible by boat.

Bucket lists at the ready, we’re on a quest to inspire your next waterborne adventure.

Globetrotting almost 8,000 miles overseas, our first destination – the stunning Republic of Chile, located along the western coast of South America. Stretching for thousands of kilometres, Chile reaches from the driest desert on Earth, to the vastest of icy glaciers; with dunes, valleys, volcanoes, forests and fjords making up everything in between.

You could spend weeks exploring the diverse and never-ending haven of natural beauty Chile offers, but we’re convinced there’s one place you can’t leave without seeing first. Located on a peninsula of solid marble, and bordering Lake General Carrera, lies the Cuevas de Mármol – a unique and natural formation that’s carved into the Patagonian Andes.

The outstanding marble cave and its spectacular surrounding tunnels are located far from any road; and the one thing that stands between you and Mother Nature’s magnificent marble work, is the remote glacial lake that spans the Chile-Argentina border.

When the sun is shining you can join a ferry of tourists travelling from Chile Choco to see this spectacle. However, if you’re looking for a more intimate experience, then tenders, kayaks and small boats are the perfect alternative.

As you gently wind around the cavern, you’ll notice the reflection of the lake’s turquoise waters glistening against the walls, in an array of vibrant blue hues. But you don’t just have to admire them from afar, you can get close enough to touch them, and in some areas, you can drop anchor and wander inside.

And after experiencing such paradise, it’s not hard to understand why the Marble Cathedral is considered one of the most beautiful cave networks in the world. One that we’re pleased to check off our list of World Tour destinations.

If you loved learning about this hypnotising underworld, then keep your eyes peeled for the next series in our Williams World Tour, coming soon.
